Tamper protection is used to protect files from unauthorized alteration during transmission and to verify that they are from the right sender. For security, all files containing payment orders sent to Bankgirot, are sealed with electronic tamper protection.
Bankgirot allows two different methods for seal generation: HMAC, which is an open standard with no license fee, and Nexus "Electroniskt Sigill". Both methods are based on using a special mathematical calculation (encryption algorithm) in combination with a unique key. By calculating the change in a tamper protection, you can verify that no unauthorized person has changed the file.
Change protection can be in the form of a Digital Signature or Seal. What form to use is determined by your choice of communication solutions:
